| The Tieline Commander G3 studio and field
codecs are amongst the world's most successful and widely used codecs
for remote broadcasts. Tieline's award winning multi-network Commander
G3 codec can be found in radio and television stations throughout
the USA, Canada, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, Middle East
and Australia.
The secret to Tieline's global success is open-platform hardware
and software allowing us to add new network interfaces to the Commander
G3 as telecommunication technologies advance offering customers
protection against early obsolescence. Thousands of satisfied customers
use Tieline Commander Codecs everyday for both short and long term
broadcast quality links.

Rackmount
features:
The new TLR300B Commander G3 studio
codec comes in two sizes. A 1RU with front panel status LEDs and
a 2RU with front panel hardware control.
The 1RU codec can be controlled by the Tieline Toolbox
or the Codec Controller software connected via local LAN, WAN,
USB or serial connector on the rear of the codec. It can even be
remotely controlled over your Tieline link or the internet. The
1RU front panel status LED's include power, audio present and telco
interface status.
The 2RU features comprehensive front panel hardware control including
4 x front panel LED/PPM meters which can be configured to show send/return
or user selectable channel mix. It can also be remotely controlled
via the Tieline PC GUI.
Interface
cards

The new commander now offers a choice between analog or input/output
modules AES/EBU on the rear of the chassis.
Choose from an analog two input/output
card with XLR connectors or AES/EBU two input/output cards on XLR
connectors. AES/EBU clock choices include internal clock, external
AES/EBU clock and external word clock. Tieline has also implemented
an automatic failover from the selected external clock to the internal
clock in the event of an external clock failure.
When purchasing the TLR300B codec you can choose any single input/output
card and it will be included in the price of the codec (there will
be no additional cost to the rack mount price for the first card you
choose). All other cards will need to be purchased seperately.
1. Analogue 2 in 2 out interface
(Part No: TLANA2IN2OUT)
Analog input card for Rack Mount Codec- Analog Commander Rack Mount
codec input card. Featuring 2 input and 2 output on XLR connectors
plus balanced Aux in/out on 6.35mm (1/4") jack. Balanced Aux out
may also be used as a headphone out.
2. AES EBU 3ID interface (Part No: TLAESEBU3ID)
Digital Input Card for Rack Mount Codec:- AES/EBU Digital Card with
2 in and 2 out balanced AES3 on (XLR) plus unbalanced (BNC) AES3
(jumper selectable) with unbalanced word clock input as AES3 output
sync reference.
3. AES EBU STR (Part No: TLAESEBUSTR)
Digital Input Card for Rack mount codec- AES/EBU Digital card with
2 in and 2 out balanced AES3 on XLR connectors plus AES balanced
silence tone reference input as AES3 output sync reference.
PC control
2 FREE software packages
are supplied with the Tieline Commander G3 rackmount codec.
The TLG3 GUI Codec
Controller software emulates the hardware front panel of the
Commander G3 2RU and can be used to control codecs on local area
networks or on the open internet.
The Tieline
ToolBox PC software package offers complete configuration and
audio routing enabling you to tailer your codec to suit each broadcast.
Automatic
failover
This powerful optional software provides
automatic switching from one network to another network in the event
of a link failure. For example, if your IP link fails it can auto
switch to a backup POTS link. Relevant modules must be installed.
5 Connection Profiles:
- Mono Delivers bi-directional broadcast quality
mono audio over a single POTS, ISDN, X.21, GSM or IP link.
- Stereo Commander G3 offers two channel stereo
and joint stereo options over ISDN and X.21 using the MPEG L2
algorithm. Tieline Music algorithm also offers 15kHz stereo over
a single 64kb channel or stereo over IP at bit rates between 64kb
and 384kb. Tieline is the first to offer 15kHz phase locked stereo
over two analog telephone lines. You can also achieve up to 24
bit, 20kHz uncompressed low delay audio over IP.
- Mono/IFB Delivers a bi-directional mono channel
for program plus a separate full bandwidth off-air communications
channel. Instead of using expensive communications equipment or
cell phones to communicate between local and remote sites, the
Commander G3 rack mount front panel features a cue-comms button
which can be configured (using the DMR) for your choice of one
to one or one to many communications off-air feeds. The Commander
G3 field codec has front panel comms buttons which are software
assigned. At the touch of a button on-air talent, producers, directors
and engineers can by-pass the program feed and split headphone
feeds into comms and main program audio at either end of your
codec link.
- Dual Mono This profile offers two unique options.
a) Send your Commander G3 program audio to two different studios
over any 2 networks
simultaneously including POTS, ISDN, X.21, GSM or IP. Each studio
will receive the same audio from the Commander G3 or;
b) Connect one studio codec to two field codecs and run two separate
simultaneous remotes over any two networks. Now two remotes only
requires three codecs instead of four.
- Bonded Mono Bad phone lines at the remote site?
Bond two analog telephone lines together and combine their low
bit rate connections into one high bandwidth channel to deliver
15kHz high quality audio. You are no longer restricted by bad
phone lines at the remote site. (Normally one good analog telephone
line will achieve 15kHz audio).
Remote
Control:
Commander G3 features serial, USB
and LAN interfaces. Two GPIO relay control inputs and two outputs
(expandable to 8 using the optional Tieline CAN8+8 relay box) offer
a variety of internal audio matrix routing and external machine
control. Front panel hotkeys can be programmed to trigger relay
and routing state changes or external relay devices can be interfaced
to trigger machine control at either end of your link. RS232 or
raw control data can be interfaced via the serial port and delivered
to the other end of your codec link for external machine control.
Commander G3 is still the only codec
to enable control of the remote codec audio inputs from the studio
ensuring announcers no longer have to worry about understanding
correct audio input levels. You can control one remote audio input
or gang all remote audio inputs to a single control in the studio.
A New
modular concept

Commander G3 is the first codec to
feature two expansion slots which accept your choice of hardware
and software modules. Combinations of modules offer you 15kHz mono
over POTS, dual mono over POTS, stereo over POTS, mono/stereo over
ISDN, mono over GSM wireless to landline and mono/stereo audio over
IP and 3G data networks.
Simply buy the low cost codec hardware
or software module you need. You can make the codec as simple or
as fully featured as required. Now that's flexible!
Network
Options
 |
IP: Plug into a LAN
network port or directly into an ADSL router and deliver 15kHz
mono and stereo audio over DSL, cable, LAN, WAN and wireless
802.11x broadband networks. Uncompressed (Linear) 20kHz stereo
for STL's and studio to studio managed IP links is also available.

3G: Wireless broadband
cellular networks offer the next generation in flexible remote
broadcasts. 3G covers a broad spectrum of technologies which
are slightly different in major regions of the world including
3G, UMTS, and EVDO. For more information on how to create live
“on-the-spot” cellular broadband wireless remote
broadcasts over your wireless 3G network. |
 |
POTS: Use a single
POTS module for up to 15kHz mono audio over POTS. Combine two
POTS modules and use two telephone lines to send your program
to two destinations or use 1 channel for program and the other
for off-air comms or data. Bond two POTS channels for phase
locked stereo. |
 |
GSM Wireless: Only
Tieline offers up to 7.5kHz over standard GSM networks and up
to 15kHz over HSCSD GSM networks. Combine the GSM module with
the Tieline field power supply for a completely wireless solution.
Great for reporters on the move. |
 |
