Codecs
and Profiles
There
are 5 software profiles offering unprecedented flexibility over
POTS ISDN and GSM links.
- Mono mode - delivers bi-directional high bandwidth
15-20kHz mono audio over a single, ISDN B Channel or up to 15kHz
over POTS and GSM links
- Stereo mode - delivers separate right and left
channels over a single ISDN B channel or 2xB channels. Tieline
is the first to offer 15kHz phase locked stereo over 2 x analog
telephone lines.
- Mono/IFB - (over POTS and ISDN) delivers a
bi-directional mono channel for program audio plus a separate
full bandwidth, bi-directional off-air communications channel.
At the touch of a button you commentators can bypass the program
audio feed and talk with anyone at the local or remote end of
the codec link. You can even use the additional telephone coupler
for a second communications link without interrupting your broadcast.
- Dual Mono - Send your program to two separate
locations from one codec over 2 x POTS channels or 2 x ISDN channels.
- Bonded Mono - Bad phone lines in your area?
Bond two telephone lines together and combine their low bit rate
connections into one high bandwidth channel to deliver high quality
audio. You are no longer restricted by bad phone lines in your
area.
A
new modular concept
i-Mix
G3 comes with 1 x POTS codec on board plus an analogue telephone
coupler. You can add additional POTS, ISDN and GSM codec cards into
the expansion slot on the right hand side of the i-Mix
G3 to increase your programming, mixing and communications options
at a fraction of the price of regular codecs.
ISDN
- Plug in the optional 2 x B channel ISDN card and select
from G.711, G.722, Mpeg Layer 2 and Tieline’s own Music algorithm.
Tieline is compatible with most major ISDN codec brands and is the
first to offer 15kHz stereo over a single ISDN B channel using Tieline’s
famous MUSIC algorithm.
POTS:
Thanks to our unique modem stability software and algorithm technology
Tieline has convinced even the most skeptical engineers that delivering
15kHz audio with rock solid stability over analogue telephone lines
is simple and reliable. Now i-Mix
G3 delivers 15kHz mono, stereo, dual mono and bonded mono connections
over POTS links offering ground breaking flexibility to broadcasters.
No matter how bad your telephone lines are, you will always get
a high quality audio link.
GSM:
Plug in the optional GSM module and deliver 7kHz audio over standard
GSM networks and up to 15kHz over High Speed Circuit Switched (HSCSD)
GSM networks. Simply dial between the GSM enabled codec to a POTS
landline enabled Tieline codec. Use the battery module or vehicle
power supply for a complete wireless solution.
16x11
Cross Point Digital Matrix Router (DMR) Software option:
Embedded
in the Tieline i-Mix
G3 software is an audio router allowing any audio,
codec, headphone, telephone coupler and communications input to be
routed to any local codec or remote codec output. This powerful software
option can be used to customize your preferred configuration for local
and remote off-air communications, program mixing, split headphone
monitoring PA output and even PPM meter assignment to specific audio
feeds. By purchasing the DMR unlock key you can replace thousands
of dollars worth of extra patch panel, audio routing and communications
equipment.
The
power of live off-air communications
Instead
of using expensive communications equipment or cellphones to communicate
between local and remote sites, the i-Mix
G3 front panel features
yellow buttons which can be configured (using the DMR) for your choice
of one to one or one to many off-air communications feeds. At the
touch of a button on-air talent, producers, directors and engineers
can by-pass the program feed and split headphone feeds into comms
and main program audio at either end of the link.
A
7 input 3 output configurable digital mixing facility
i-Mix’s
digital audio mixing facility features 5 mic line switchable inputs
offering your choice of line level (15dB) unbalanced (35dB) low mic
gain (55dB) medium Mic gain (65dB) and high mic gain (72dB) plus two
line level outputs, an additional auxiliary unbalanced (15dB) input
and output, telephone coupler in/out and POTS, ISDN and GSM in/outs,
Using the DMR, you can configure this digital mixer to mix and route
any input to any output of the remote or local codec.
Taking
live callers in the field
A
telephone talkback system has been integrated including analogue
telephone coupler, front panel telephone control “cue”
and “live to air” buttons to manage live callers in
the field. Mix minus audio routing ensures caller audio is separated
from the announcer’s audio feed and unique “Audio Ducking”
software reduces the caller’s audio by up to 30dB when they
try to talk over the announcer. When you are not using the telephone
talkback system you can use the telephone coupler as another analogue
telephone off-air communications feed.
On-board
relay and RS-232 control system (also featuring Serial, USB and LAN
interfaces)
Two
GPIO relay control inputs and two outputs (expandable to 8 using the
optional Tieline CAN8+8
relay box) offer a variety of internal audio matrix routing and external
machine control. Front panel hotkeys can be programmed to trigger
relay and routing state changes or external relay devices can be interfaced
to trigger machine control at either end of your POTS, ISDN or GSM
link. RS232 or raw control data can be interfaced via the serial,
LAN or USB ports on the i-Mix G3 and delivered to the other end of
your codec link via POTS, ISDN or GSM for external machine control.
i-Mix
G3 is still the only codec to enable control of the remote codec
audio inputs from the studio ensuring you have control over your
talent’s audio input levels. You can control one remote audio
input or gang all remote audio inputs to a single control knob in
the studio.
Tieline
Toolbox PC configuration and control software
A
comprehensive PC software package which offers complete configuration,
audio routing and control of your local and remote codec is supplied

G1 codecs and can be combined with the new Commander
G3 field or rackmount codec for a complete end to end broadcast
