In a letter to broadcasters, Telstra announced that it will commence the shutdown of its analogue program line network from January 2009. As a result, broadcasters are now upgrading their STLs, audio distribution and remote broadcast infrastructure from ISDN, and POTS/PSTN equipment into IP and 3GIP technologies.
From 1st August 2008 Telstra is no longer installing or making changes to link audio services, access audio services, full time intersoc links and itinerant audio services.
From 1st January 2009 Telstra will no longer offer temporary access services to existing customers.
From 21st November 2009 Telstra will close the network and will no longer offer audio network services.
Broadcasters need to migrate to IP technology alternatives for remote broadcasts, audio distribution and STLs. Tieline G3 IP codecs are engineered to deliver rock solid and reliable audio over IP and wireless 3GIP networks and they are capable of connecting over POTS, ISDN, X.21 and satellite networks. Therefore, with a Tieline G3 codec it is possible to take advantage of both new and old transports as telcos continue to transition into new IP-based technologies.

Many Tieline customers are already using G3 audio codecs over IP and Telstra NextG 3GIP for remote broadcasting, audio contribution and STLs. IP can be used as the primary circuit for sending audio and you can use POTS or ISDN as a backup failover circuit.
Don’t be caught out and upgrade to IP with a new Tieline G3 multi-transport codec today.
