Tieline is the only codec to offer a full algorithm, DSP, modem and control software upgrade which will completely update your machine. All you need is a computer with a free com port and standard data cable (DB9 connectors).

The whole operation is very simple and takes approximately 10 minutes to upgrade a pair of units.

Depending upon the software version and serial numbers of your Tieline codec we may need to send you different software or have you return your codecs to your nearest dealer for the upgrade. Please fill out the form below with all the reqested information and you shall be promtly contacted with the correct software upgrade instructions for your Tieline codec.

Upgrade Instructions

G3 codec upgrade Instructions

Once you recieve the software upgrade via email please follow the below instructions to begin upgrading your unit.

  1. Unzip the software upgrade sent to you via email
  2. Open the toolbox by double clicking on the icon
  3. Connect your unit to your PC by either USB, serial or LAN
  4. In the toolbox menu under "device", select "add"
  5. From the pop-up select "Commander G3" or "i-Mix G3" (depending on your unit type) and click "OK".
  6. Change the device name to Commander or iMix (or any unique name for easy identification) and select the connection option. (If you are uploading using USB you will also need to scroll down and select the serial number of your unit). Then click "OK".
  7. In the toolbox menu under tools, select "firmware upgrade". A pop-up will appear
  8. Select your device from the list and hit "OK".
  9. Next click on the "Upload Sw..." and navigate to the location that the software was stored in.
  10. Click "open" and within a few seconds the software should begin to upload into your unit.
  11. When this is done you will need to do a reset on your unit so that the software can initialise. This is done by clicking on "menu" of your unit, scroll down and click on "configuration", then scroll down and click on the "Advanced Menu", scroll down and click on "Set Sys Defaults", and then finally scroll down and select "All Profiles". It will ask you if your sure, select "yes".
  12. After this is done reset the power to the unit by unplugging the unit, wait for about 5 seconds and reconnect it.
  13. Repeat the above process for any other units that require the upgrade.

Upgrade Instructions

Legacy G1 codec instructions

Once you recieve the software upgrade via email please follow the below instructions to begin upgrading your unit.

Note: you must use the Tieline Toolbox you have just received. If you have any earlier versions of the Tieline Toolbox please delete them as they are not compatible with the Tieline control software upgrade.

  1. Attach the RS232 cord into the back of the Tieline and your computer.
  2. Unzip the file and Open Toolbox on your computer.
  3. Select the "Setup Tab". Click on Auto Detect to open the channel between your computer and the Tieline. (Com port 1,2,3 or 4)
  4. Disconnect the power to the Tieline.
  5. Hold down the Enter/Dial key on the Tieline - Reconnect power to the Tieline (then let go of the enter/dial key after you have connected power)
  6. Now quickly press the number "5" on the Tieline key pad, The display on the Tieline should read " Waiting for Upload" , If not then you did not press "5" quickly enough please repeat from step 4
  7. Select the uploader tab on the Toolbox software.
  8. Click on the "CPU Upload" button. (a dialogue box should open with the .hex file)
  9. Select the .hex file and click open. The Tieline will now upgrade itself.
  10. The Toolbox will now automatically upgrade and verify your Tieline
On completion of this exercise the Tieline screen should say..."Upload Successful". Once this process is complete, select [menu] then [reset functions]

Trouble Shooting: If you get an error message on the Tieline toolbox (ie communications error), try selecting com port 2,3 or 4 on the Setup Tab. This changes the communications port on your computer that communicates with the Tieline. Or select the Help button. IF you cannot get a connection between the Tieline and the Computer, try physically connecting to a different com port on the back of your computer.
